Advertising Photography – A Journey worth the Pains
My transition from an assistant to an independent professional in advertising photography was marked with a lot of hardships. I contacted some of my mentor's clients for work, but had success only with a few of them. With the kind of projects I was given, I could not have survived the industry. Money was a problem.
After graduating from Guildford School of Photography, I knew I had a long way to go and that my road to success would not be an easy one. But then I knew that once I make my mark in advertising photography, things would become rather easy. So, I stepped further, with hopes and with anxieties.
Having guided by one of the finest commercial photographer of today, I learnt a lot about the nuances of the trade and also seen a lot of problems that a photographer of this field goes through. That helped a lot during the time I started on my own.
Now, things are better and the days of struggle are not as tasking as they were till a few months back. I do get projects – some well paying ones as well. Projects bring projects and my work is appreciated both by clients and by the higher echelons of my fraternity. Not that I coast through my way to more work and projects, but yes there is a steady inflow of money and it does allow me to invest in all the cool gadgets that are required for better work quality.
